Collaboration Kindness Carbon Sensitivity

Hi, I'm Amanda welcome to my contemporary community textile artist
Derbyshire blog
'Don't be the chicken...be the peacock!'
Karen van Hoey Smith, VAA
I'm a female contemporary community textile artist Derbyshire UK who started this blog to share my experiences in creativity, collaboration, co-curation, wellbeing, the arts, carbon-sensitive practices, experimentation and heritage. I've worked with the Turner Prize, Daniel Lismore, Coventry City of Culture, and many more. My flax work was recently featured on BBC Radio Derby which highlighted the growing interest in local working class history. I'm happy to champion such attention.

'...(a) person in the city that is putting connection and belonging at the heart of what you do.'
I've had many 'WTF' moments trying to improve my practice continuously. Here, I'm sharing the lessons I've learned and my stepping stones towards becoming as 'complete' an artist and community-serving practitioner as I can.
